Administrative and Clerical Volunteers
Office Support
Front office assistants perform a variety of duties. Responsibilities include answering the phone, retrieving messages and returning calls, registering and checking out patients, scheduling patient appointments and eligibility screenings, and releasing and requesting medical records from hospitals, other providers, attorneys, and the Department of Social Services. Please note: office support volunteers must be Spanish-speaking.
Spanish Interpreters
About 75 percent of Cook Community Clinic’s patients are Spanish-speaking. It’s essential that Clinic providers and patients be able to communicate clearly, and volunteers fluent in Spanish serve the vital role of translator during medical visits.
Student Volunteers
The clinic offers students from local colleges and universities an opportunity to learn more about working in the medical field by volunteering in the summer or a semester.
Special Project Volunteers
Clinic fundraisers and special events are ideal for volunteers who want to be part of our mission but may not be able to donate time consistently or over an extended period.
Clinical Volunteers
Volunteer clinicians are the foundation of Cook Community Clinic; without them, we couldn’t offer care to uninsured members of our community. If you’re a healthcare professional, we invite you to join the more than 30 doctors, advanced practice providers and nurses who volunteer their services. Give a little time or give a lot of time—we want you!
Clinical volunteers must:
- Provide documented, portable malpractice insurance or apply for malpractice coverage from the federal government through the Federal Tort Claims Act (where applicable).
- Complete an application and provide a resume/CV.
- Show a current photo ID.
- Provide a record of TB skin test results (within the past two years) and Hepatitis B immunization.
- Provide current licenses/board certifications.
Dental Volunteers
As part of the Clinic’s recent expansion, we now provide onsite dental care for our patients. We welcome dental and support staff volunteers into this area of our healthcare offerings.
Dental Professionals
Active dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants are all needed! Shifts are typically three to four hours, and you can volunteer as often as you’d like. All levels of commitment are greatly appreciated. Dentists must have a license in good standing and malpractice insurance/coverage; hygienists must have a license in good standing.
Interpreter
We want to make our patient’s dental experiences as comfortable and successful as possible. Fluent Spanish speakers who can serve as translators for the roughly 75 percent of patients who are Spanish-speakers are invaluable to the process.

Times are hard these days, but a person’s health should not be compromised.”

“The clinic is not a patient mill, rather it is a place where the patient has the time to talk about current issues and the clinical staff is able to guide you to the right path. As my time as a patient at CCC comes to an end, I am only hopeful that I can receive this kind of care going forward.”
